Mission Statement
Better Service Better Water
Thats the BC Aquifer Way
BC Aquifer was founded in 1974, primarily as a water well testing company in association with the highly respected hydrogeologists in the Province (Thurbers, Brown-Erdman, Pacific Hydrology and Golders). The company tested wells on the mainland and Vancouver Island. Dewatering projects at Highland Valley Copper, Fording Coal, Hat Creek, Queen Charlotte Island, Quinsam Coal and Utah Mines established BC Aquifers reputation as a dependable and respected company. We are now proud to be Vancouver Islands trusted choice for water treatment services.
When the economy of the Province slowed down, broadened our business into water, well-related pump installations and water treatment.
Now, 43 years later, the company has a client base of over 7,500 customers that continue to require our services and expertise. Our technicians, with their broad knowledge of the equipment we install and maintain, are constantly praised by satisfied customers.

1) Water Well Testing
Some customers may not have any idea of their well’s yield. For consumers intending to purchase a home with a well, a test may provide reassurance that there is adequate water for their needs. As water systems play a vital role regarding the health and safety of your family, it’s important to have your Vancouver Island water system inspected regularly to ensure the water is clean, clear and safe for consumption.
2) Water Treatment
Water treatment equipment can be an essential requirement depending on the source of your water. Dug wells or lake water could contain coliform bacteria which may be harmful in high quantities or to people with immune system deficiency issues. We offer a wide range of water treatment equipment for our Duncan and Victoria clients and can help them identify what systems are optimal for their specific property needs.
In certain areas, drilled wells may contain minerals that stain appliances or clothes, and sulphur odours can be a nuisance. A proper water analysis by an independent authorized laboratory is the first step in eliminating annoying water problems. Once we have the results, a site visit and consultation will determine the size and type of treatment equipment necessary to provide good quality water.
We assemble most of our equipment from components in stock for each individual application. We will also re-bed filters that have fouled media due to neglect or the age of the unit.
3) Irrigation
We have years of experience in sprinkler systems and are always available for questions. Have a green, healthy lawn all year-round with a little help from BC Aquifer! So, when it’s time to have a drip irrigation or sprinkler system installed in Duncan, Victoria or throughout Vancouver Island, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
4) Water Pumps
Pump installations should start with a good knowledge of water well construction methods for proper sizing and design parameters. Setting depths, elevation criteria and friction loss data all lead to choosing the correct pump for individual locations. With 4 decades of experience, we have the expertise and knowledge to assist our Vancouver Island clients with their pump installation needs in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.
Example: Several years ago, one of our competitors replaced an existing 1/2hp submersible with a much larger 1hp model. The 1/2hp pump had been installed in an open bottom well rated at 6 gpm. The 1hp submersible (much too large) heaved up the sand in the well and choked the flow down to 2 gpm. BC Aquifer, in conjunction with a local drilling company, had the well redeveloped to its original yield and then re-plumbed the system to only allow 6 gpm from the well. Unfortunately, the customer is consuming twice the power that would be required if the competitor had reinstalled the proper pump in the first place. In that case, bigger was not better.
If you’d like to enquire further about our services, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
5) Rain Water Harvesting
Rain water collection on Vancouver Island is becoming more popular as people consider the effects of climate change and the need to conserve water. Nature provides us with ample rain that can be stored for months and used when watering plants, garden plots and hanging baskets is essential.
Depending on one’s budget and water needs, costs range from inexpensive rain barrels to large plastic cisterns or larger in-ground storage systems. Call us to discuss the different options available.
